About me

I am Ivan Bubentcov, a gay artist dedicated to creating gay art.

Inspired by the works of Tom of Finland, Etienne and other gay art artists I search for new forms and themes, experimenting with different techniques and styles, often adding the dynamics of strong perspectives and distortions to my compositions. To create artworks I explore watercolor techniques and synthetic polymer paints in addition to drawing mediums such as pencil, graphite, charcoal, pen and occasionally digital rendering. All this serves one goal - the search for new facets of the beauty of the male body.

I often bring humor and sarcasm to the sex scenes and stories I depict, seeking fun and playful plots for my characters. There are even a number of works that parody famous masterpieces of world art, for example, the work of Salvador Dali and Greco-Roman classics. Yet, the most important thing for my artistic output is to incite pleasure when creating drawings and paintings, passing on the excitement to the viewer!

Composition, balance and aesthetics are integral to my creations. This stems from my previous career as an Object and Interior Designer, following graduating from the Moscow State Academy of Art and Industry in 2000. Over my career to date I have received numerous industry awards and my design work has been widely published in Russian magazines and journals, however, my life felt incomplete without being able to express myself as a gay artist. In Russia, being a gay artist is not easy as homosexuality has been and continues to be taboo. In recent years there was a slight relaxation toward acceptance, which, unfortunately for many, this has already ended.

In 2024, I relocated to the USA. Here, gay and queer people are still faced with many challenges, but overall, acceptance and tolerance are much greater. This means I am much freer to do what I love, namely, gay art.

I hope you enjoy my art as much as I enjoy creating it.
